Google Continues to Continue…

April 14th, 2007

As if the news of Google buying up interactive advertising giant Double Click wasn’t enough for one weekend, Clear Channel Communications and the “Big G” announced a long-term agreement that will allow the Google to place advertising for its online customers on more than 675 Clear Channel radio stations.

To date, I’ve been a skeptic of the search leader’s ability to move offline into print, radio and TV, but maybe (just maybe) I am wrong. To me, it seems that they are gaining competitors on more fronts than one body can learn to handle in such a short amount of time. They will obviously be poised to benefit from the convergence of online and offline media channels, but can they sustain all of these spinning plates while they wait on technology -and more importantly - the actual adoption of new convergence technologies?

How big will they get? A better question may be how big will the DOJ will let them get?

Exciting times.
